The journey begins in Llangollen, a charming town nestled on the River Dee. Llangollen is known for its picturesque setting, with the stunning Dee Valley providing a beautiful backdrop. Visitors can enjoy historical sites such as the Llangollen Canal, the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the Llangollen Railway.

As we move towards Betws-y-Coed, we will pass through charming villages like Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog, where traditional Welsh cottages dot the landscape, and the rolling hills surround us with a sense of serenity. The route then passes through Glyn Ceiriog, another picturesque village, located in a valley with the Ceiriog River running through it.

The journey culminates in Betws-y-Coed, a popular tourist town in Snowdonia National Park. Known as the “Gateway to Snowdonia,” Betws-y-Coed offers an array of outdoor activities and we will pass the dense forests and waterfalls nearby, such as the famous Swallow Falls.

To summarise, the Green Lanes from Llangollen to Betws-y-Coed takes you through some of the most beautiful and unspoiled parts of North Wales, offering a peaceful escape into nature with charming villages, historic sites, and stunning mountain views.

  • The routes are rated moderate to technical which may be scratchy in certain areas, making them suitable for vehicles with All Terrain or Mud Terrain tyres.
  • A fully equipped support vehicle will be provided.
  • PMR radios will be available for the tour.
  • Please bring a packed lunch, as we’ll take a break in the wilderness to eat.
  • This is a 4×4 adventure, so some light scratching or minor damage to vehicles, such as alloy wheels, may occur.
  • Not included are drinks, lunch and accommodation.

This adventure can be coupled with Coed-y-Brenin, Bomber Lane, and Horseshoe Lane for an exceptionally rewarding two-day journey in and around the Snowdonia National Park.
