Knighton to Elan Valley

As you leave Knighton, the road transitions into quiet, narrow green lanes that wind through rolling hills, ancient woodlands, and farmland, allowing you to immerse yourself in the serene Welsh countryside. Along the way, you might pass small stone cottages, old farm buildings, and distant views of the Radnorshire hills. You’ll notice a mix of broadleaf forests and wide-open moorlands, making the journey feel like a step back in time. Some sections of the route might have small streams or rivers meandering through the landscape, adding to the natural beauty.

The Elan Valley is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, striking landscapes, and historical significance. The valley is home to several reservoirs, which were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to supply water to Birmingham. The reservoirs are set in a breathtaking valley surrounded by steep hills and moorlands. Once you arrive at the Elan Valley, you’ll be able to take in the views of the tranquil reservoirs and surrounding mountains. The area is ideal for exploring the historical dams and aqueducts that form part of the valley’s engineering heritage.

• The routes are rated moderate to technical which may be scratchy in certain areas, making them suitable for vehicles with All Terrain or Mud Terrain tyres.
• A fully equipped support vehicle will be provided.
• PMR radios will be available for the tour.
• Please bring a packed lunch, as we’ll take a break in the wilderness to eat.
• This is a 4×4 adventure, so some light scratching or minor damage to vehicles, such as alloy wheels, may occur.
• Not included are drinks, lunch and accommodation.
