Coed-y-Brenin to Bomber Lane & Horseshoe Lane

The journey begins at Coed-y-Brenin, which is a renowned forest park famous for its ancient woodlands. The park is a great place to immerse yourself in nature, with its mix of broadleaf and conifer trees creating a lush, serene environment. It’s one of Wales’ oldest and most famous forests. The Green Lanes route may begin near some of these trails, offering an opportunity to spot wildlife, enjoy tranquil forest walks, or simply take in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

From Coed-y-Brenin, the route heads into the hills towards Bomber Lane a narrow, winding lane with a rugged, somewhat isolated feel. The name “Bomber Lane” is believed to be linked to a WWII plane crash in the area, adding an element of local history to the journey. The lane takes you deeper into the heart of the Snowdonia mountains, where the natural beauty of the landscape dominates. Here, you’ll pass through stunning areas of heathland, moorland, and rocky outcrops, all set against the backdrop of Snowdonia’s towering peaks.

Continuing on, the route moves towards Horseshoe Lane, another picturesque and winding track that takes you through varied terrain. This lane is named for its shape, which resembles a horseshoe when viewed from above. Horseshoe Lane winds its way through rolling hills, bracken-covered moorland, and occasionally dips into valleys and riverbanks. This part of the route often gives you stunning views of the surrounding peaks and valleys, including glimpses of Snowdon itself in the distance.

• The routes are rated moderate to technical which may be scratchy in certain areas, making them suitable for vehicles with All Terrain or Mud Terrain tyres.
• A fully equipped support vehicle will be provided.
• PMR radios will be available for the tour.
• Please bring a packed lunch, as we’ll take a break in the wilderness to eat.
• This is a 4×4 adventure, so some light scratching or minor damage to vehicles, such as alloy wheels, may occur.
• Not included are drinks, lunch and accommodation.
